Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
- 1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 2 cups macaroni pasta, uncooked
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Red pepper flakes (optional, for some heat)
- Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions:
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Break it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat if needed.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Sauté for a few minutes until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, uncooked macaroni pasta, beef broth, Italian seasoning, paprika, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. If you like a bit of heat, you can add some red pepper flakes to taste.
- Mix all the ingredients well and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Once it starts boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer, cover the skillet, and let it cook for about 20 minutes, or until the pasta is tender. Be sure to stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Check for seasoning and adjust salt and pepper as needed.
- Once the pasta is cooked and the sauce has thickened, your old-fashioned goulash is ready.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve hot.
- You can also offer grated Parmesan cheese on the side for those who like some extra cheesy goodness.
