Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans (14.5 ounces each) crushed tomatoes
- 2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 pound lasagna noodles
- 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 1/2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
Directions:
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook until the meat is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, fresh basil, fresh oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer the sauce for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- While the sauce is simmering, cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, beaten eggs, black pepper, 2 tablespoons of parsley, Parmesan cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
- In a 13×9-inch baking pan, start assembling the lasagna. Begin with a layer of noodles, followed by a layer of the meat sauce and then a layer of the cheese mixture. Repeat this layering process.
- Finish with a final layer of noodles and top with the remaining mozzarella cheese, ensuring that the noodles are completely covered.
- Cover the baking pan with foil and bake for about 40-45 minutes. Then, uncover and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling, and the lasagna is heated through.
- Let the lasagna rest for 15-20 minutes before cutting and serving. Enjoy your classic homemade lasagna!
